In order to successfully travel through life we must pay attention to some basic principles.
First we must not be afraid of what lies ahead. Often we fear moving forward, get too attached to our past and wish to remain on familiar grounds, even if it means remaining miserable. Growth entails joy and pain; both part and parcel when traveling through life.
Second guiding principle; we can’t look only to the future, since then we miss the here and now. There lies an irreplaceable opportunity in every moment of life. Even now as we are currently experiencing hardships, we must not simply wish them away, but do something now to refine and repair the present reality. Each Jewish soul is traveling towards her Promised Land. Hashem is specifically guiding each one of us back home; seek out what Hashem is telling you.
The Nefesh Chaim ztk’l teaches that angels accompany us through life’s travels. These angels are created by a person’s thoughts, words and deeds and provide him with the necessary Divine protection to successfully reach his destination.
Eisav represents the negative energy that emerges along the way; Eisav who battles to stop our spiritual quest. We must wrestle our way through and discover the meaning behind the obstacles. Know that Hashem is with us, guiding us and giving us the strength we need to reach our destination.
